Issue Position: The Issues

Issue Position

"These issues are important to all Kentuckians as we consider the fall election," says Representative Burch. "I will continue to focus on and push for legislation that enhances the quality of life of our citizens. Bricks and mortar are important, but, above all, we want government services to improve the human condition."

Tom Burch continues to work for:

*Improved education for our children;
*Lower prescription costs for seniors;
*Quality, affordable health care;
*Increased health department services for the uninsured and needy;
*Better nursing home staffing ratios;
*More effective programs to benefit missing or exploited children;
*Providing more dental care mobile clinics;
*Specific programs to focus on women's health;
*Enhanced services relating to foster care and adoption.

Tom is resolute in providing continued funding for road improvements in the district, such as the recently finished Bashford Manor Lane, Poplar Level Road, Fegenbush Lane and Indian Trail projects. "Better roads mean quicker commute times, less traffic congestion and more personal time to spend with our families," notes Tom. He continues to work with local officials for the development of a new neighborhood library in Newburg with the State providing funding for the purchase of books. "We never outgrow the need to keep learning," says Tom, "and, while the information media our libraries provide continues to evolve, our library system remains an essential part of the urban community."
