Lowey Statement on Attack on Afghanistan Aid Workers

Congresswoman Nita Lowey, Chairwoman of the Appropriations State and Foreign Operations Subcommittee, today issued the following statement on today's attack on a USAID contractor compound in Afghanistan:

"I am deeply saddened by today's attack of a USAID contractor compound in Afghanistan. It is a tragic reminder of the dangers civilian aid workers face in war zones. We honor the memory of those killed and keep their families in our thoughts and prayers.

"Terrorist attacks against individuals attempting to help the Afghan people build a decent and prosperous life are contemptible, and all those responsible should be held accountable for their violent and hateful actions."
