Issue Position

The root of most of the problems concerning our government. Not all. Not everyone. But most certainly those we keep hearing about in the news sources detailing (more than) questionable financial dealings and ethical problems. How to deal with this? Twofold. More of the public must hold elected officials accountable (since they can't, or won't, do it themselves) by voting them out of office; and Congress itself needs to re-awaken a proper sense of ethical dignity to hold each other accountable -- and punish those who fall into disrepute. Obvious news stories showing an outright lack of this responsibility on the part of Congress -- such as protecting those who obviously need to be investigated and held responsible -- is building toward a government in danger of itself, let alone endangering its population.
