Today, Congressman J. Gresham Barrett (SC-03), a strong supporter of the men and women of the Armed Services, released the following statement regarding his votes against the rule and amendments surrounding H.R. 4899 Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2010:
"No one supports our troops more than I do, but I firmly believe Congress should provide them with the resources they need without attaching completely unrelated and costly provisions.
Congressional Democrats should be ashamed of themselves for using legislation that is intended to fund our troops' endeavors as a vehicle to push their own political agenda. If a piece of legislation is too unpopular or controversial to be passed as a stand alone bill, then it should not be passed at all--especially at the expense of our troops."
