Cornyn Statement On The Failed Murkowski Resolution

Statement

Date: June 10, 2010
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, today issued the following statement after the Senate failed to pass the Murkowski resolution of disapproval under the Congressional Review Act, which would prevent the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency from acting on its own to regulate greenhouse gases:

"The American people have roundly rejected the Obama Administration's cap-and-trade scheme because it will kill jobs, raise prices of consumer goods, and increase energy costs," said Senator Cornyn. "President Obama continues to ignore the will of the American people and is instead allowing the EPA to proceed with a national energy tax through this back-door endangerment finding. Texas communities will be devastated by these expansive new regulations and the Murkowski resolution would have put a stop to this."
