The treasurer manages about 40 bond issues where it functions as the paying agent. In 2009 and 2010 in my role as Deputy Finance Director, I was responsible for leading the effort to issue several bond offerings totaling approximately $1 billion for the State of Alabama and related entities. The Treasurer's Office played a bond management role in each transaction. In completing the transactions, I became familiar with the staff's practices and considerable abilities. In a previous position, I served as the chief trust officer for a trust department that provided trustee and bond management services to corporations and government entities. I know I can make a positive contribution to our state's bond management practices.
