Space: We Must Make Ohio Manufacturers More Competitive And Improve Our Economy

Continuing his push to rebuild Ohio's manufacturing sector as part of his RENEW Ohio plan, U.S. Rep. Zack Space (OH-18) has introduced an amendment before the House that would increase manufacturers' access to new technologies. These technologies could help American manufacturers potentially cut costs and save money, making them more competitive.

"Making new and advanced technologies available to our struggling manufacturers is crucial to rebuilding this important sector and helping them stand up against the rest of the world," said Space. "I will fight to ensure that this amendment is included when the bill comes before the House later this week."

"Nothing is more important to my District than ensuring that American manufacturers creating American jobs are able to thrive and succeed," continued Space.

The increased access to new technologies provided by Space's amendment would enable manufacturers to save money by cutting waste and reducing energy use. The amendment requires the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to carry out a program supporting research and development into these technologies.

Congressman Space's amendment has been filed to the America COMPETES Reauthorization Act, which is expected to come to the floor of the House later this week.

Congressman Space has represented Ohio's 18th Congressional District since 2007. He has been working to restore integrity to the office, and to create the conditions to bring new industry and jobs to Ohio. Recently, Congressman Space launched FIGHTING TO RENEW OHIO, the second phase of his plan to provide long-term economic growth in Ohio's 18th Congressional District.
