Dodd State Director Ed Mann Honored with Joe Moakley Public Service Award

Edward Mann, Senator Chris Dodd's State Director, was honored this week for his lifelong dedication to public service with the Congressman John Joseph Moakley Award for Exemplary Public Service. Mann is Dodd's longest-serving employee, serving the Senator and people of Connecticut since 1975.

"Ed is not just a member of my staff; he is a loyal friend, a mentor and inspiration for his colleagues, and a hero to the people who come to my office looking for help," said Dodd. "In over three decades of public service, Ed's motto has always been simple: "Connecticut First.' Whether it was a senior looking for her missing Social Security check, a young person looking for a chance to attend a service academy, or a veteran looking for a way to cut through red tape to receive his benefits, every constituent request became a critical mission in the hands of Ed Mann."

"Lots of staffers, of course, become adept at getting things done. What set Ed apart was the way he made constituents feel when they came to my office for help. Every anxious immigrant or struggling homeowner or hopeful small business owner feels like the center of the world in Ed Mann's office -- because, to him, they are," Dodd continued.

"It is an honor to receive this award. For the last three decades, it has been a great privilege to work for one of the best representatives Connecticut and our country has ever seen," said Mann. "Chris Dodd, and the men and women who work for him, are dedicated public servants who understand the needs of our state and work each and every day on behalf of the people of Connecticut."

The Congressman John Joseph Moakley Award for Exemplary Public Service was established in 2001 in conjunction with the Moakley family and Greater Boston Federal Executive Board (GBFEB) to honor longtime Massachusetts Congressman Joe Moakley.

The Moakley Award--presented annually during Public Service Recognition Week-- recognizes the outstanding accomplishments and achievements of a staff member of the New England Congressional delegation in the name of the Joe Moakley.
