Governor John Lynch today announced that state has begun two new rebate programs for New Hampshire residents who purchase clean, energy efficient heating systems.

Governor Lynch was at Green Energy Options of Keene today to highlight Earth Day and discuss the new rebate programs.

"New Hampshire continues to be a leader in investing in greater renewable energy and energy efficiency. These new programs are a good way to provide incentives for more of our people to utilize efficient technology and renewable energy," Governor Lynch said.

Federal stimulus money and the state's Renewable Energy Fund are funding the rebate programs.

The home heating system program is being administered by the state Office of Energy and Planning, in conjunction with the state's electric utilities.

The program offers rebates for New Hampshire residents who purchase Energy STAR heating systems, including furnaces, boilers and hot water heaters. Rebates can range from $100 to $1,000.

The Public Utilities Commission is administering an additional rebate program for residential solar hot water systems. This program is being paid for with federal stimulus funding and the State's Renewable Energy Fund. There are two rebates with this program. First, a state rebate worth $600, $750 or $900 depending on the system. Residents who are replacing an existing hot water heater are then eligible for the federally funded portion of the rebate of $750 per heating system.

Green Energy Options of Keene sells various products aimed at reducing household energy use, including energy efficient appliances and solar hot water heaters. Green Energy Options is celebrating its third year in business.
