Campaign & Ethics Reform

Our community needs a representative in Springfield who will help rebuild our trust in Government. That means electing a leader who will fight to make our government more transparent, more ethical, and more accountable to the people it represents. The past decade has shown us we cannot simply sit by and hope for the best. There is much work to do.

I will work with other progressive representatives in Springfield (there are some) to build a strong progressive caucus that will fight to make sure our values are heard. I have the experience and record of building coalitions to get things done.

My Plan:

* I will work to impose strict campaign contribution limits, and take Illinois out of the "Wild West" of campaign fundraising.

* I will seek to impose stronger oversight of executive appointments, particularly by strengthening disclosure and conflict of interest laws for salaried appointments.

* I will work to increase disclosure laws for elected officials to reveal often-hidden financial interests held by them, their family, their friends, or contributors.

* I will work to tighten "Revolving door" laws to eliminate the ability of government officials to leave for the private sector to work for companies they provided support or a benefit to while in government.
