Solutions to Focus America on a Quality Education

Education should be child centered and parent driven. My wife is a public school teacher so I know first hand the difficulties confronting our system today and that the best ideas for improvement come from places like Ranger, Gainesville, Dalton and Blue Ridge - not Washington, DC. Whether it's public or private...home or charter, parents are best able to select the right method of education for their child.

In the Georgia General Assembly, I facilitated education reforms that include educational scholarships, special needs scholarships, school choice within the local public school system, and the expansion of charter schools. Empowering parents and teachers, cutting federal red tape, and reducing the federal education bureaucracy will make improvements to our public schools to ensure every child achieves at grade level, every classroom has a highly qualified teacher and school systems have local control and flexibility in how federal education funding is spent.

Our nation's future is being determined daily in classrooms all across America, and there is nothing more important we can do than to focus America on quality education.

"Educate and inform the masses of people. They are the only reliance for the preservation of freedom." - Thomas Jefferson
