Specter Comments on CEA Analysis that Recovery Act Already Responsible for 120,000 Jobs in Pennsylvania

Today, U.S. Senator Arlen Specter (D-Pa.) made the following statement concerning a new Council of Economic Advisers (CEA) analysis which finds that the Recovery Act was responsible for 120,000 jobs in Pennsylvania through the first quarter of 2010.

"120,000 jobs in Pennsylvania is significant -- especially for the hard-working families who are back on firm financial footing," Senator Specter said. "While we still have a ways to go to get our economy back on track, there is no doubt that the Recovery Act is helping to put Americans back to work and driving economic growth."

The analysis comes on the heels of an earlier CEA report that showed that the Recovery Act was responsible for about 2.5 million jobs nationwide in that same period. The original report can be viewed HERE and the new state job impact analysis can be viewed HERE.

According to the White House, more than $14 billion in Recovery Act funds have already been invested in Pennsylvania for infrastructure, tax cuts and other financial assistance like unemployment benefits.
