Location: Washington, DC

Congresswoman Susan Davis (D-San Diego) voted to create jobs and spur infrastructure improvements with her vote in favor of the Small Business and Infrastructure Jobs Act (H.R. 4849). The bill provides for almost $16 billion in tax incentives for small businesses and bonds for state and local governments to rebuild schools, hospitals, and sewers.

The bill will increase the capital gains tax cut for those who invest in small businesses -- giving our small businesses the new capital they need to grow and hire more workers. It will also give American entrepreneurs the resources they need to make it easier to start a new business.

"Small businesses are the engines of job growth in our economy," said Davis. "This bill will give them the capital and resources they need to grow and hire new workers. By making it easier to invest in, and start, new businesses, it will unleash our entrepreneurial spirit and give more Americans the chance to pursue the dream of owning a business."

This bill will help create construction jobs by extending Build America Bonds, which provide funding to state and local governments for critical infrastructure projects.

It is fully paid for by cracking down on foreign corporations that try to evade U.S. tax laws and gain an advantage over American companies that play by the rules. H.R. 4849 was approved by the House of Representatives on a vote of 246-178.
