Press Release

Date: March 11, 2010
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Abortion

Congressman Parker Griffith spoke during a Values Action Team meeting when he was introduced as a new member of the coalition. The Values Action Team invited Dr. Griffith to be a member of the conservative coalition from his demonstration of pro-life and pro-family support.

"I believe life begins at conception," said Dr. Griffith. "All life is precious, should not be taken for granted and must to be defended. As a lawmaker, as a grandfather of 11 grandchildren and as a physician for 30 years, it is important to protect the sanctity of life.

"I believe that it is our moral duty to protect those who are voiceless and defenseless--the unborn. Therefore, I am excited to begin my work with this conservative group to defend the values that North Alabamians hold dear. As a member of this team, I will be able to influence my colleagues on both sides of the isle of the importance of continuing to protect the sanctity of life in all policy."

During the meeting, Dr. Griffith spoke to members of the Values Action Team about pro-life and education issues and about his opposition to the health care reform bill. "The current healthcare bill is not the reform that America needs. We need quality care that promotes life at all stages. As a member of the Values Action Team, I am in an even stronger position to influence the debate."

The Values Action Team works on life issues, marriage, education, and decency. The goal of the group is to unite the conservative movement by establishing legislative goals, identifying key tasks for Members and coalitions to perform, and executing action items that would lead to conservative victories.

Dr. Griffith is also a member of the House Pro-Life Caucus where he continues to advocate for the cause of the unborn. Dr. Griffith believes all unborn should be afforded the right to life.
