Hagan Comments On Senate Jobs Initiative

Press Release

Date: Feb. 22, 2010
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Senator Kay R. Hagan (D-NC) commented after the Senate initiative to create jobs passed a key procedural hurdle.

"My number one priority this year in the U.S. Senate is job creation. This jobs bill will provide employers with tax credits for hiring and retaining new employees. It also will help small business owners grow by accelerating write-offs for certain capital expenditures. Small businesses represent 98 percent of private sector employers in North Carolina, and small businesses are the lifeblood of our economy. This legislation is a good first step, and as a member of the Senate Small Business Committee, I will continue to work with my colleagues this year to create jobs in North Carolina and across the country."
