Senator Murray Applauds Appointment of Regional Housing Director

Today, U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) applauded the announcement by the Department of Housing and Urban Development officially declaring the appointment of Mary McBride as Region X HUD Director.

"I am very excited that President Obama has selected Mary McBride to serve as Region X HUD Director," said Senator Murray. "As a regional director on my staff -- first in Central Washington and later in South Puget Sound -- Mary has a unique understanding of the housing challenges around our state and is well equipped to help solve these challenges in her new role. I am proud to have recommended Mary for this position and I applaud President Obama for his excellent choice."

McBride has served Washington state for over eight years as Senator Murray's South Sound Regional Director and prior to joining Senator Murray's office was an appointee of the Clinton Administration serving as the Director of USDA - Rural Development for Washington State.

As Region X Director, McBride will oversee the Department of Housing and Urban Development's Regional Office and manage the construction and support of affordable housing for Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington.
