WASHINGTON, D.C. - - U.S. Congressman Kenny Hulshof (R-MO) today made the following statement regarding State Farm Insurance Company's announcement:

"Today is a wonderful day for Columbia's business community. The leaders of State Farm have obviously recognized the well-qualified workforce that this area offers. This decision is a testament to those workers who have served State Farm so well for so long."

"Although there were carrots dangled before the leaders of State Farm, their deliberate pursuit of the facts made it clear to them that Columbia had certain, tangible advantages."

"Let us now re-commit ourselves to promoting those advantages. This will ensure that Columbia continues to attract quality jobs to our community. These first-rate jobs play no small part in contributing to the fine standard of living that we enjoy. We have learned from this latest episode that nothing is guaranteed, but Columbia does certainly offer benefits that are recognizable by business leaders across the region."
