Rep. Massa Votes To Keep Congress At Work

Today Rep. Eric Massa voted against allowing Congress to adjourn for the rest of the year. The procedural vote, which passed by a total of 222-195, will allow Congress to end the year's session tonight after votes conclude, however Rep. Massa thinks it's too early to end the year. Specifically, Rep. Massa cited the importance of passing H.R. 3012, the TRADE Act of 2009 which would force a reevaluation of our Free Trade deals and move us toward a Fair Trade system.

"While I'm certainly looking forward to spending Christmas morning with my family, I think there's a lot we can be doing in the next week and a half," said Congressman Eric Massa. "I went Christmas shopping the other day and was again stunned by the fact that virtually all products on the shelves during this Season were made in China. I think we can all learn a lesson from the Ghost of Christmas Present by staying in Washington for the next week and continuing our work for the American people. While I understand that Congress will be back in Session in early January, there are several items that I'd like to see brought to the floor such as the TRADE Act so that we can start this New Year with a new trade policy that will create long-term job growth in America."
