Mack To Obama: Free-Market Solutions, Not More Government, Will Restore Economic Prosperity

Congressman Connie Mack (FL-14) urged the Obama Administration to practice greater fiscal responsibility and return to the principles of freedom and free markets as the unemployment rate in Southwest Florida averaged 13 percent for the month of September.

Mack said:

"The Obama Administration's economic policies have failed the people of Southwest Florida. Unemployment across the country is at a 26-year high. And ever since the so-called "stimulus" plan was enacted in February, nearly 3 million private sector jobs have been lost. People are hurting, and the President is ignoring reality.

"The Obama Administration has been on a nonstop spending spree since January. From countless bailouts for the financial industry and the auto industry, to a $4 trillion budget, to a stimulus plan that has done nothing to create jobs or revitalize our economy, our country is awash in red ink. And to top it all off, President Obama wants to enact a huge tax burden on American families with his government-run health care proposals and his cap-and-trade policies.

"The American people know that the failed policies of the 1970s -- with record debts and stagflation -- are not going to solve our economic problems.

"Mr. President, the people of Southwest Florida deserve a government that taxes less, spends less, and regulates less. And they deserve policies that will preserve our freedoms and the free market. That is the true path to economic prosperity."
