Kucinich: Profits Should Not Trump Our Children's Education

Press Release

Date: Oct. 8, 2009
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Education

Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) is today contacting the NASA Administrator, Maj. Gen. Charles Frank Bolden, Jr., to pledge to fight a proposal to move the NASA Visitors Center from NASA Glenn to the Great Lakes Science Center if it means limiting the number of students who are able to visit the exhibit for free

"Moving the NASA Visitors Center would be a huge draw for the Great Lakes Science Center, but the fact that the agreement would cap free admission for children at 20,000 demonstrates two things: 1) they intend to bring in more children and 2) they ultimately intend to charge Cleveland area children and school groups admission to visit a taxpayer supported exhibit. That is simply unacceptable," said Kucinich.

Kucinich has previously written to NASA Glenn director, Dr. Woodrow Whitlow, Jr., to express his opposition to such a plan. That letter is available here.
