Brown Signs Onto Republican Solution For Affordable, Quality Health Care Reform

Congressman Henry E. Brown, Jr. (R-SC) issued the following statement after becoming a cosponsor of H.R. 3400, the Empowering Patients First Act. This comprehensive solution for health care reform would ensure that patients control their own health care decisions and provide access to affordable, quality health care for all Americans.

“The time has come for balanced, common sense health care reform that will guarantee that Americans receive quality care while protecting the sacred doctor-patient relationship.

I strongly believe that the Empowering Patients First Act, a Republican alternative to the Democrat's government-run health care plan, will do just this.

The bill, created by the Republican Study Committee, is a budget neutral proposal based on the fundamental principle that personal medical decisions should be made by patients and their doctors, not unaccountable bureaucrats in Washington.

No matter the challenges facing the country, my Republican colleagues and I are dedicated to offering real solutions. We look forward to Democrats joining us to work towards positive, patient-centered health care reform in the coming months.

The American people demand and deserve it.”
