Bono Mack Meets With Constituents on Health Care Reform

Emphasizing the importance of improving the U.S. health care system, Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack today met with groups of constituents and medical professionals to discuss concerns with the current health care proposal and seek responsible reforms that will increase access to affordable, quality health care for Americans.

"Today's meetings were an outstanding opportunity to hear firsthand people's concerns with a government takeover of health care and their ideas for improving our nation's health system," said Bono Mack. "Health care reform is a critically important issue, affecting every individual and family in our country, and it is essential that we work together in a bipartisan way to make beneficial and needed reforms that will expand access to quality health care for all Americans.

"These reforms should not limit people's ability to choose the plan that best meets their needs, nor put layers of government bureaucracies between patients and their doctors.

"Unfortunately, some of the proposals before the House of Representatives do more to expand government agencies and increase already unsustainable entitlement spending than to improve health care for every day Americans. A government takeover of our health care system that would force people off their current plans, including millions of seniors, while crippling our nation with out-of-control debt is simply not the answer.

"As Congress continues this debate, I will continue to seek the input of local residents and will be taking their views back to my colleagues in Washington to find better solutions that will benefit all Americans."
