Democrats Dishonor Body by Shutting Minority Out of House Business, Massive Spending on Cruise Control

Congressman Tom Price issued the following statement in response to the Democrat leadership's decision to clamp down on the minority's rights to participate in the appropriations process - the fundamental task afforded to Congress by the U.S. Constitution.

"Repression, arrogance, and tyranny live in the House of Representatives," said Congressman Price. "The majority, it appears, does not believe in the rights of dissenting voices to be heard in this House. As they rush, in typical fashion, to pass the largest set of spending bills in history, House Democrats have dishonored the body by shutting out those who question their willingness to bury future generations in debt. The American people loathe the notion of runaway government spending, yet the majority continues to run over anyone who seeks to put a check on their opulence.

"Democrats have made clear their top priority is shoveling out tax dollars as fast and quietly as possible, rather than protecting those who work so hard for this money. Is the majority proud of the oppressive and negligent direction they are taking this House? It is time for House Democrats to live up to the principles they sought in the minority, and those by which the American people expect us to operate. The House of Representatives should be the home of robust debate and thoughtful discussion on how tax dollars are allocated. All the American people have seen, however, is a dangerous and frightening eagerness to suppress accountability and fiscal restraint."
