Bennet Statement on Deployment of Members of 140th Wing of the Colorado Air National Guard

Michael Bennet, U.S. Senator for Colorado, released the following statement after 30 members of the 140th Wing of the Colorado Air National Guard were deployed to Iraq to serve in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom:

"These men and women represent some of the very bravest our military has to offer. As they embark on this journey, we must put it upon ourselves to do what we can to support them and their families through the span of their deployment and beyond.

"This Memorial Day, we pause to reflect on the sacrifice and heroism of those who gave their lives in service to our country. But as we honor the lives and legacies of the fallen, we must also remember our solemn obligation to those who serve in our military today.

"I thank these men and women for answering the call of duty, and offer my fullest commitment to ensuring the sacred trust America has with those who have proudly worn the uniform of this country is never broken.
