Guns In Parks Move One Step Closer To Reality

Senators Mike Enzi and John Barrasso, both (R-Wyo.), cheered the Senate passage of an amendment which allows law abiding citizens to carry concealed weapons on to National Park Service and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service public lands.

"This vote shows the strong number of Second Amendment supporters in the U.S. Senate," said Enzi. "I charge the senators and representatives who will work this bill in the conference committee to heed this support and keep this language in the bill. Gun owners won't stand for anything less."

"Consistent firearm freedom across federal lands is not a lot to ask from Washington," Barrasso said. "I am pleased that Senate Republicans and Democrats came together to produce a veto proof majority in support of the Second Amendment."

Enzi, Barrasso and fifteen other Senators led an effort to force a vote on the amendment.

The Preservation of the Second Amendment in National Parks and National Wildlife Refuges Act, amendment # 1067, passed 67-29.
