Radical Left-Wing Group's Latest Automated Phone Call Campaign Distorts Gerlach's Voting
Record

Congressman Jim Gerlach (PA-6th District) alerted constituents on Friday that the left-wing special interest group Working Families Win is responsible for a recent barrage of automated phone calls in the district.

"President Obama stood on the steps of the U.S. Capitol just two months ago and denounced the hate-filled tactics that Working Families Win has used for years to smear my record and advance their political agenda," Gerlach said. "This pettiness has no place in our country, especially at a time when we all need to work together on common-sense policies that put Americans back to work and turn this economy around. I want to make my constituents aware that these calls are not coming from my office and that the message is completely inaccurate."

Here are the facts about the congressman's recent votes on economic issues:

• Voted to shut off the spigot of bailout cash flowing to AIG and other Wall Street firms by opposing the Treasury Department's release of $350 billion under the second phase of the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP).
• Opposed the bloated, $1.2 trillion spending plan masquerading as an economic stimulus bill, which officials revealed this week included a provision protecting $165 million in bonuses for AIG executives.
• Helped the U.S. House of Representatives pass a bill that would allow taxpayers to recoup nearly all of the $165 million in bonuses doled out at AIG and other Wall Street firms that benefitted from billions in taxpayer-funded bailouts.
