Alexander Statement on Resolution Calling for Inspection of TVA and Nation's Coal Ash Facilities

U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.), co-chair of the TVA Congressional Caucus, today made the following statement regarding a proposed Senate resolution (S. Res. 64) calling on the Environmental Protection Agency to conduct immediate reviews and inspections of all coal ash impoundments in the U.S. The resolution also says the Tennessee Valley Authority should be "a national leader in technological innovation, low-cost power, and environmental stewardship."

"I agree with the resolution that TVA should be a national leader in technological innovation, low-cost power, and environmental stewardship. TVA should learn from its mistakes and help the entire nation improve how it deals with coal ash waste."
