Walberg: Ten Days Since Speaker Shut Down the House, Pelosi Still Offering Only Gimmicks such as "Use It or Lose It"

Ten days ago House Speaker Nancy Pelosi shut down the U.S. House of Representatives, refusing to allow even a vote to increase American energy production.

Instead of supporting or even allowing a vote on a comprehensive, "all of the
above" energy plan that includes more oil exploration, more alternatives and
more conservation, the Speaker and other Democratic leaders continue to oppose increasing American energy production. Instead of real energy solutions,House Democrats are pushing gimmicks such as the Drill Responsibly in Leased

Lands Act (DRILL), H.R. 6515, which is commonly referred to as the "use it or
lose it" act. Democrats say this legislation will force oil companies to drill
on 68 million acres Democrats claim oil companies are not currently drilling
on.

"While Members of Congress, on both sides of the aisle, are coming
together to work on real energy solutions, Speaker Pelosi and her faithful
followers are putting forth nothing more than gimmicks to try to deceive the
American people," Walberg said. "‘Use it or lose it' does not increase
American energy production and will do nothing to bring down prices at the
pump. Speaker Pelosi should postpone her book tour and call Congress into
session for a vote on comprehensive energy legislation that includes more oil
exploration, more alternatives and more conservation."
