DIAZ-BALART STAYS ON THE SIDELINES WHILE SOUTH FLORIDA STRUGGLES

At a time when thousands of South Floridians are on the verge of losing their homes and their jobs, Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart once again neglected the needs of working families. For the second time in one week, Diaz-Balart voted against a bipartisan package designed to stabilize the economy.

"Mario Diaz-Balart made this mess, but he refuses to clean it up," said Andy Diaz, spokesperson for Joe Garcia. "Diaz-Balart voted with George Bush's failed economic policies over 90 percent of the time, but now he lacks the courage to stand up and fix the problem he created."

Diaz-Balart's Republican colleague, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, recognized the urgency of the situation, but Diaz-Balart remained happy to sit on the sidelines and let our families struggle. Diaz-Balart, who has passed one bill in six years, today stayed true to his legacy of inaction and ineptitude when addressing the needs of District 25. Due to Diaz-Balart's failure to lead, Florida's District 25 has one of the worst foreclosure rates in the country.
