NORM COLEMAN STATEMENT ON NEW INDEPENDENT EXPENDITURE AD

Senator Coleman tonight released the following statement regarding a new independent expenditure ad that began airing tonight.

"This campaign has seen too much negativity, and neither party is immune from the blame," said Senator Coleman. "I've taken down ads that attack my opponent and I'm renewing my request that those groups running ads on my behalf do the same. While these groups are beyond my control, I hope that they take down any attack ads and instead air positive ads about my record. Keeping with that tone, I launched a new ad today that touches on my vision of hope for the future, one where we put an end to bitter partisanship and get things done."

Coleman, who announced last week that he would stop all negative ads and called on other groups to do the same, is not legally allowed to personally contact independent groups and ask them to stop their negative ads. However, he has committed to immediately rejecting such ads if they appear, and appealing to independent groups to focus on his positive vision for the future.
