REP. DRIEHAUS PICKS UP ENDORSEMENT FROM NATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL GROUP

Rep. Steve Driehaus was endorsed today by the League of Conservation Voters (LCV), an advocacy group that works to turn environmental values into national priorities.

Tiernan Sittenfeld, the group's legislative director, joined Driehaus and Oregon Congressman Earl Blumenaur, a national leader on environmental issues, near the shores of the Ohio River on the south lawn adjacent to the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, for the announcement. The LCV also reiterated their endorsement of Sen. Barack Obama, the soon-to-be Democratic nominee for President of the United States.

"Rising gas prices and global warming threaten our economy, our national security, and our way of life," Sittenfeld said. "We need new leadership in Washington that will make these issues a priority and will build a new, clean energy economy that ends our addiction to oil, reduces pollution, and creates thousands of good jobs here in America. That's why LCV is proud to endorse Steve Driehaus, a leader with the vision and the judgment to bring change to Washington."

Driehaus, who worked on the environment as a Peace Corps volunteer and continued to do so as an elected leader, believe the work of the LCV is good for America?

"Preserving the environment for all to enjoy has been critically important to me," Driehaus said. "I am glad that the League of Conservation Voters has chosen to recognize my record on this issue. I look forward to being able to continue my record on a national level as a member of Congress."
