Carney Again Opposes Real Energy Reform, Engages in Election-Year Political Games

Location: Dallas, PA

Yesterday, Chris Carney voted for a permanent ban on offshore drilling within fifty miles of America's coastlines, while offering only token expansion in areas outside that limit. (Roll Call 599) This vote follows Carney's repeated opposition to expanding American energy supplies off-shore. Siding with the liberals, Carney voted against debating a bipartisan bill that would have had significantly more impact on immediate increases in off-shore production (Roll Call 598).

"Chris Carney's position on off-shore oil drilling is a joke. He only supports it in areas where there is no oil, and where the liberal environmental special interests give him a wink and a nod. This is the typical Washington political game, and unfortunately, it won't bring any relief to people at the gas pump," said campaign spokesman Mark Harris.

"I stand firmly for increasing refinery capacity, real offshore energy exploration, and the alternative energy solutions that will secure our long term economic future," said congressional candidate Chris Hackett.
