Issue Position: Strengthening Our Local Economy

Issue Position

Jason is delivering on his pledge to help strengthen western Pennsylvania's economy. During his first term in Congress, he has already secured over $60 million in federal funding for local projects that will keep jobs in western Pennsylvania, and expand the base of our local economy. The projects will, among other things, address our local transportation and infrastructure needs, support our local emergency first responders, and invest in our area's community hospitals.

At the beginning of 2008, Jason was proud to vote in favor of the bipartisan Economic Stimulus Package which will provide tax rebate checks to Pennsylvania's families, seniors, and veterans to help offset the rising costs of gas, groceries, and health insurance.

Finally, Jason has teamed with Congressman Tim Ryan of our neighboring district in Ohio to develop a Pittsburgh-Cleveland Tech Corridor, which brings together business, academic, and foundation leaders from western Pennsylvania and northeastern Ohio to help create more jobs, attract investment, and drive economic growth for our region.
