Rep. Frank Lucas Statement on the Anniversary of September 11th

On the anniversary of the attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001, Members of the House of Representative and the Senate joined together on the stairs of the Capitol Building for a Congressional Remembrance Ceremony. Following that ceremony, Congressman Frank Lucas issued the following statement:

"On this day, we commemorate the violent and unprovoked attacks on the United States of America seven years ago by radical extremists. We will be forever changed by their vicious acts, having to learn the hard way the importance of maintaining strong national security. I am proud of the success of our intelligence agencies and the members of law enforcement who have worked so diligently to ensure that a tragedy like this will never happen again.

Today is a day when we should remember the lives lost in New York, Washington DC, and those brave souls in Pennsylvania. As we remember those Americans lost on September 11, 2001, we must be reminded that it is imperative to continue to pursue efforts to secure our lives as Americans and to ensure freedom and security throughout the world. Thank you to the members of the armed forces who keep us safe by serving this great country in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other parts of the world.}
