Moscow Now Within Range of Iran's Missiles, Ros-Lehtinen Says

"Sobering fact should persuade Russia to stop helping Iran"

U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), Ranking Republican on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, today cautioned that Moscow is now within range of Iranian nuclear-capable missiles. This "sobering fact" should persuade Russia to prevent the provision of further assistance, technology and materials to Iran's missile and nuclear programs. Iran has begun testing a missile with a range of 1,200 miles, enough to strike U.S. forces operating in Afghanistan and Iraq as well as targets in Israel and major population centers in Russia. Statement of Ros-Lehtinen:
Iran now possesses a ballistic missile that can reach Moscow. If it were armed with a nuclear warhead, the potential consequences would be horrific. Yet, Russian assistance to Iran's missile programs has enabled this rogue regime to rapidly expand its capabilities. Russia's extraordinarily short-sighted policies of currying favor with the Iranian regime have rendered it permanently hostage to the ambitions of the mullahs in Tehran.

This sobering fact should be a call to action for the Russian government to block all assistance to Iran's weapons programs and, instead of undermining efforts to isolate the Iranian regime, impose effective sanctions to halt Iran's nuclear ambitions.
