Lead Congressional Member on Hand Gun Amicus Brief Responds to Supreme Court Ruling

Congressman Chaka Fattah (D-PA), lead sponsor on Congressional Amicus Brief in support of the District of Columbia releases the following statement on the high court's long awaited decision.

"The court even though striking down the District of Columbia hand gun ban, supports through its ruling today the position of our amicus brief allowing for local and state governments to regulate the registration and sale of firearms, and limits the ability to carry them outside the home. This will enable Philadelphia and other cities like it to deal with escalating homicide rates. Mayor Nutter and I agree with the Supreme Court's position that governments can place certain restrictions on firearm ownership."
