Price: New Taxes Not the Answer to the AMT

Rep. Tom Price (GA-06-R) issued the following statement after House Democrats passed legislation seeking to block a middle class tax increase which paradoxically includes a $61.5 billion tax increase. Rep. Price ardently supports protecting Americans from the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) - without raising taxes.

"House Democrats continue to prove that their answer for every problem is new taxes," said Rep. Price. "Even on legislation introduced to keep taxes the same, Democrats have the temerity to thrust yet another massive tax increase on the American people. The majority must break itself of the notion that government must continue to grow ever-faster.

"The Alternative Minimum Tax is oppressive, and we must act swiftly to protect the millions of hard-working Americans who are threatened. The American people have lost trust in this Congress because current leadership has lost sight of whose money it is they are seizing. Restoring the trust of the American people requires a respect for hard work that keeps taxes low for all people."
