Capito Statement on Supplemental Funding Agreement

Congresswoman Says Bipartisan Bill Provides Important Funding to Support Our Troops

Rep. Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) released the following statement today after voting in favor of the bipartisan supplemental funding measure to reaffirm Congressional support for American forces serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom:

"Bipartisanship has finally prevailed on a measure to ensure that our troops have the support and funding they deserve," said Rep. Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV). "It not only supports our troops on the ground, but provides a much-needed modernization of the GI Bill's educational benefits for our active duty troops and veterans.

"Our troops have served their nation with honor and have made incredible strides to support liberty and democracy around the world. The new GI Bill will honor their service and ensure that they have access to top-notch educational opportunities.

"Providing support for our military men and women is not a Republican or a Democrat issue and I appreciate the work of members of both parties on this legislation.

"It's also important to note that this bill will provide a 13 week extension of unemployment benefits for those struggling in the job market. For West Virginians facing the prospect of unemployment, this is incredibly welcome news."
