DOMESTIC PRODUCTION NECESSARY TO DECREASE ENERGY COSTS

Tiberi Supports Multi-Faceted Approach To Updating Our Energy Plan

U.S. Congressman Pat Tiberi (R-OH) today released the following statement:

"I know Central Ohio families are struggling to pay $4 a gallon for gas, and shelling out for the increasing cost of groceries, and other goods and services impacted by higher gas costs. In order to ease energy prices, we must implement a comprehensive plan. Safely exploring for domestic energy sources off our shores, and in areas like ANWR, is just part of the solution. We must increase our domestic refining capacity. We must expand our use of alternative energy, like wind and solar power. We must encourage the use of biofuels. We must continue to conserve.

"We've already started the process, by passing tax incentives for the use of alternative fuels, and suspending deposits to the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, but we must do more.

"The answer is not just ‘drill, drill, drill' the answer lies in a combination of many ideas. One day we'll get to a point where we won't need to rely on oil as our source of energy, but we need a plan to get us to that point."
