"MS is a devastating disease," said Congressman Latham. "It's hard to fight against something that can't be predicted, but I believe it's important that we do everything we can to minimize the effects MS has on the human body and continue our efforts toward finding a cure."

Dr. Todd Janus, from Des Moines, spoke with the congressman about establishing a National Multiple Sclerosis Disease Registry. The registry would establish a nationally coordinated system to collect and analyze data on MS in the United States. A national registry would benefit researchers by indicating promising areas of study, helping genetic and environmental risk factors, and by supporting the discovery of more treatments and hopefully a cure. The congressman informed Dr. Janus of his support for the registry.
