Boehner Applauds Clean Troop Funding Bill Introduced by House Republicans

Congressman John Boehner (R-West Chester) today released the following statement on the clean troop funding bill introduced this afternoon by Rep. Jerry Lewis (R-CA), Ranking Republican on the House Appropriations Committee:

"House Republicans believe that loading up the troop funding bill with billions upon billions in unrelated Washington spending is both reckless and dangerous. I applaud Rep. Lewis for introducing a clean bill that would give our men and women in uniform the resources they need to win in Iraq and Afghanistan. Congress has the votes to pass this legislation right now, and it should be sent to the President's desk as soon as possible. Congress only has a handful of legislative days left before the Memorial Day recess, and our troops are counting on us to act. Every day the Democratic Majority delays action on a clean bill is another day that they are denying our troops the tools they need for victory."
