Issue Position: Healthcare

During my tenure in Congress, I have consistently fought to help more New Jerseyans afford the health care they deserve, and that remains one of my top priorities in the United States Senate. Although the United States spends more per capita on health care than any other industrialized nation, America is experiencing a health care crisis. It is unacceptable that 1.3 million New Jerseyans - and 46 million Americans - do not have coverage they can rely on. Health care costs and insurance premiums continue to rise, and the healthcare professional workforce is experiencing serious shortages. These problems contribute to large disparities in health care access and quality across the nation.

I strongly believe that all Americans regardless of age, race or socioeconomic status, should have access to affordable comprehensive health care. As Congress debates the best way to expand health care to all Americans, I will continue to support policy solutions that will strengthen America's health care system by increasing both access and quality, while also reducing costs.
