With President Bush's disapproval rating approaching 70% and the latest USA Today poll showing three in four Americans believe the economy is headed toward a recession, New Jersey Republicans seeking federal office in the 7th District are remaining surprisingly quiet about President Bush's planned visit to the Garden State tomorrow.

Linda Stender, Democratic candidate for Congress in New Jersey's 7th District, today called upon her Republican opponents to join her in denouncing President Bush's failed economic policies.

"I challenge my Republican opponents to stand with the American people and reject the failed economic policies of the Bush Administration. President Bush has left our nation in a mess, and it's time for a change,' Stender said.

"New Jersey families deserve better than the failed economic policies and broken promises of the Bush Administration," added Stender. "And they deserve better from a representative in Washington. They deserve a Congresswoman who will fight for their interests and look out for their needs. The Bush Administration has left our nation with an economy on the brink of a recession, embroiled in a war in Iraq that is costing taxpayers more than $10 billion dollars a month.

"In Washington, I will work to restore fiscal responsibility and stop the reckless spending in Iraq that has produced record budget deficits and left our nation less secure at home. It's time to start solving our domestic problems like creating more good-paying jobs here at home, providing access to affordable, quality healthcare for every American, and developing a national energy policy that will end our dependence on foreign oil and lower gas prices from today's $3.27 per gallon national average."
