McConnell Statement on HUD Nominee

U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell made the following statement Friday regarding the President's nomination of Steve Preston to serve as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development:

"During this time of uncertainty in the housing market, we need to continue to support responsible homeownership and community development. Having met with Steve Preston, I know he has an excellent record in his current leadership role as Administrator of the Small Business Administration. The Senate must now ensure that he will work with Congress in our continuing efforts to address the problems in the housing market while preserving our long-term economic interests through a fair and swift hearing and confirmation process."
