Congressman Davis Reacts to State of the Union

Press Release

Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Immigration

Congressman Geoff Davis offered the following comments on the President's State of the Union address:

"This evening in his State of the Union speech, the President touched on some of the most important issues facing our nation. From the economic stimulus package to maintaining our nation's security, Washington needs to focus on the issues that impact our families and small businesses.

"I was pleased that Leader Boehner and Speaker Pelosi worked with Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson to develop a bipartisan economic stimulus package. Providing incentives to help small businesses grow and putting money back in the pockets of hard working Americans will provide the jumpstart that our economy needs. I am hopeful that the House and Senate will come to a final agreement soon so that a stimulus package can be implemented quickly.

"As the Second Session of the 110th Congress moves forward, we face a long list of unfinished business for the American people, including: securing our borders and immigration reform without amnesty, providing affordable health care coverage for all Americans, achieving greater energy independence, reforming federal homeless assistance programs, restoring fiscal responsibility to Washington and protecting our nation from those who wish to do us harm. I am committed to working with my colleagues in Congress to achieve meaningful results for Kentucky's Fourth Congressional District."
