Rep. Fossella Statement on Decision to Seek Death Penalty for 9/11 Masterminds

Congressman Vito Fossella today released the following statement on the decision of military prosecutors to seek the death penalty for six detainees charged with masterminding the 9/11 terrorist attacks:

"Many of the men who masterminded the 9/11 attacks have been brought to justice and now may face the ultimate punishment. These individuals have the blood of nearly 3,000 innocent Americans on their hands. These terrorists will be held accountable for their actions, be forced to answer for their crimes and pay a price for their acts of cold-blooded murder. Some of these individuals have already confessed to their crimes as well as other terrorist acts. Despite howls of protests from some who want to expand rights for terrorists, these masterminds of 9/11 will have the opportunity to call their own witnesses, cross-examine prosecution witnesses and review the evidence presented against them. My guess is the only thing they lack is remorse for their crimes."
