Response to the State of the Union

Press Release

Date: Jan. 28, 2008
Location: Washington, DC

American families are nervous about the state of our union and her future, but we have faced and overcome enormous challenges before. I stand ready to work with the White House and my colleagues to advance solutions that will reinvigorate the economy, restore fiscal responsibility and protect Arkansas's workers and seniors from slipping through the cracks. With the 39th preparing for another deployment, I am also determined to support our troops and their families while they are in harm's way.

These initiatives require a solid, responsible plan and a leader in the White House willing to work with Congress for the betterment of our country. There is no room for more rhetoric or political gamesmanship from any side. We must act now - on education, health care, energy, immigration, and national security -- to put our country on a better, more secure path for the future.
