Murphy Calls for Full Support of Troops

In response to passage of legislation in the House of Representatives tonight that only provides one-fourth of the funds U.S. troops need to do their jobs in Iraq and Afghanistan, Congressman Tim Murphy (PA-18) released the following statement:

"Regardless of how one feels about the war, we must all show 100 percent support for our troops fighting in harms way, not only half support, and definitely not a quarter support. We all want our troops home as soon as possible, but by not giving them tools and resources they need to properly defend themselves it only makes the situation they are in more dangerous. Meanwhile the Pentagon will be forced to cut back on other programs vital to protecting our country to try and make up for the cost. Instead of turning its back on American soldiers, Congress needs to stop holding politically motivated votes on which no one wins. We all need to support our troops and bring them home safely."
