Fattah Issues Statement on Writers' Strike

Congressman Chaka Fattah (D-PA) issues the following statement on the strike by the Writers Guild of America against television and movie producers:

"The strike by the Writers Guild of America may seem to be about new technology. In fact it is an old and and tired story: corporate exploitation of working men and women. Beyond the glamour of the TV and movie industries, the Writers Guild is a labor union of creative people who have a right to negotiate their grievances. The producers' refusal even to talk about the issues of fair residual payments for new media transmissions is a script that must be rejected."
