Veterans Outpatient Clinic Set to Open in Hamilton

Congressman John Boehner (R-West Chester) today said he was pleased that Hamilton veterans will receive improved medical treatment through a new Veterans Affairs outpatient clinic. The new facility will open by 2008.

"Our veterans deserve the best care that we're able to provide, and this new facility will make it more convenient for Hamilton area veterans to get top-rate medical and mental health treatment," Boehner said.

Services at the new facility will include comprehensive primary care, health promotion, health maintenance, routine and urgent care procedures as well as health education. The community-based outpatient clinic will improve access to care for veterans living in rural areas. The clinic is one of 38 new facilities in 22 states approved by VA Secretary James Nicholson.

"VA is committed to providing world-class health care to the men and women who have served this nation," Nicholson said. "These new clinics will bring VA's top-notch care closer to the veterans who have earned it."

With 153 hospitals and more than 700 community-based clinics, VA operates the largest integrated healthcare system in the country. VA's healthcare budget of more than $34 billion this year will provide care to about 5.5. million veterans.
